Even though personally, I believe the second season of Fringe to be somewhat flat, the producers behind the series are hoping for another six seasons.

Talking at a recent conference-call, producer Jeff Pinkner expressed his desires to continue the sci-fi series for another six years…

“If we’re lucky enough, we have six seasons that we’re really excited about. It’s such a great show to work on, because we’re only limited by our own imaginations.
Once you start to get into this wonderful framework of the characters and stuff, it’s so much fun. We’re constantly saying, ‘Oh, what about this?’ and then all of a sudden, we’re like, ‘Well, that will be a season three thing, yeah’.
Then before you know it, there’s so many things on the season three pile that you realise that it takes shape.”
