With Microsoft’s Natal and Sony’s own PS3 motion controller on the way, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Nintendo would be a little bit worried that their Wii console could suddenly lose its unique selling point.
Nintendo God Shigeru Miyamoto recently spoke with The Official Nintendo Magazine and came out swinging…
Is the fact that both your rivals, Sony and Microsoft are due to release their own motion-sensing controllers worrying to you as a company?
“We don’t look to the future in one direction only. When you say that one element of our uniqueness might have been lost, you don’t really have to be concerned about that, because Nintendo always tries to find something new. I hope you are looking forward to our challenge to discover this new uniqueness.”
What about the Wii? Soon it will have competition in the one area that made it unique, does that concern you?
“Well, I should say that it could be taken as a compliment if others are following suit, by saying Nintendo was right in choosing a certain direction. But if you ask me if that is going to be good for the entire business, I really don’t know.”
Check out some videos that I found for Project Natal and Sony’s Motion Controller and then answer me this; should the Nintendo Wii be afraid?
