Wolverine Star Hugh Jackman To Star In Steven Spielberg’s New Sci-Fi Movie
Variety are reporting that X-Men star Hugh Jackman has signed up to star in Steven Spielberg and Stacey Snider’s Real Steel.
Real Steel is set in a future where human boxers are replaced by robots and Jackman plays an ex-boxer turned promoter who has to reinvent the way he does his business and stumbles upon a discarded robot who always seems to win. Throw in his 11-year old son who “bonds” with the robot and you’ve got yourself a Robot Jox meets E.T. meets A.I movie…
In short…
Cha-Ching!!!!
Night at the Museum director Shawn Levy will helm the movie which he describes as…
“A rousing sports movie in which Jackman plays a former boxer who can no longer do the only job he’s good at, and one particular robot that may be his return to grace.”
“A rousing sports movie” … rousing?
Real Steal is based on a short story by Richard Matheson and is expected to start shooting in June. The budget is thought to be in the region of $80 million.
It kind of reminds me of Robot Jox, remember that movie? If you don’t let me refresh your memory with this trailer…
