Bryan Singer Returns – To Direct X-Men: First Class

Bryan Singer has signed on to direct X-Men: First Class.
After directing the first two X-Men movies, Singer dumped the franchise to direct Superman Returns and arguably ruined all the good work he’d done with X-Men 1 and 2 by leaving the franchise in the less than capable hands of Rush Hour director Brett Ratner.
Singer revealed the news to reporters recently by saying…
“I just signed yesterday to do an X-Men: First Class origins picture. Which is kind of cool. I’m very excited.”
Gossip Girl showrunner Josh Schwartz will write the movie while Lauren Sculer Donner will produce.
Donner talked about the project back in October…
“We want it to be like the recent, darker Potters. It should not be a kiddie movie: we’re in the X-Men world so you can’t suddenly change the tone. The First Class comics are really fun — they’re funnier than any other comics I’ve read.”
Oh Bryan, why did you leave in the first place?
A couple of years ago Singer’s name attached to another X-Men movie would have me whooping and “hell yeah-ing” like a maniac but now I’m just; “meh”…
