Warner Brothers To Make Hawkman Movie Next?

It seems that Warner Bros. are eyeing Hawkman for their next DC superhero movie. With Batman already covered and Green Lantern entering production, Warner Bros have apparently been looking at other DC properties that they can turn into a film franchise and have settled on Hawkman.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the character, Hawkman first appeared in comics way back in the 1940′s as Carter Hall; a reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian prince called Khufu who had discovered a mysterious “ninth” metal which somehow made him fly.
Naturally, as anyone would do if they found out they were a reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian Prince, Carter made himself a set of wings and took to the skies to fight crime.
However, the first Hawkman character didn’t make it out of the 50′s, actually he barely made it into the 50′s; his last appearance in his own comic book series came in 1951 after which DC Comics got all confusing on us by introducing a new Hawkman character, this time Katar Hol (see what they did with the name?) wore the wings and was actually an alien who had come to Earth after tracking a criminal from his home planet and ended up staying here after becoming somewhat taken by our primitive ways.
Anyway, it is thought that Stargate’s Michael Shanks will play Hawkman and well, that’s it as far as this rumor goes, expect more news shortly…
