Sega have announced that Sonic 1, 2,3 and Sonic & Knuckles are headed to the Nintendo DS for the first time in their The Sonic Classic Collection bundle.

Sega promise that The Sonic Classic Collection will include a handy new save feature and an unlockable video which charts the history of Sega’s blue mascot.

SEGA Vice-President of Marketing for the US, Sean Ratcliffe had this to say…

“The original Sonic the Hedgehog games were the start of a pop culture phenomenon that extended beyond just the video game world.  The Sonic Classic Collection will introduce a whole new generation of gamers to this beloved Hedgehog and take them back to his humble beginnings.”
