Tekken The Movie Trailer

tekken-5-20040702101757462_640wI’m not sure what to think about the upcoming Tekken movie, I mean, sure it’s going to be okayish if you’re a fan of the game series in much the same way that the Mortal Kombat movie was back in the day but to me, a Tekken movie should have been made about 5 years ago.

Directed by a guy called Dwight H Little, who gave us Anaconda 2, Tekken looks like a ‘by the numbers’ video game adaptation. (Watching the trailer I couldn’t help but feel that somewhere Paul WS Anderson was lurking behind the scenes)

Perhaps I could be wrong about this movie and it’ll turn out awesome but any movie with Luke Goss as one of the leads is only ever going to be a guilty-pleasure at best.

Anyway, here’s the trailer but before we get to that, take a read of the synopsis…

The year is 2039. World Wars have destroyed much of civilization as we know it. The remaining territories are no longer run by governments, but by corporations, the mightiest of which is Tekken. In order to keep the masses down, Tekken sponsors the Iron Fist Tournament in which fighters compete to the death for ultimate glory and receive a lifetime of stardom and wealth.

  3. Of course Luke Goss is going to say it’s good, he’s starring in it.
Trust me, this movie is gonna be balls.
Oh, and BTW, my mother is no longer with us, so that little scenario won’t be happening even if I did live at home.
I bet you don’t enjoy EVERY part of the movie…

I love how people who take a movie trailer that is 2 second long and decided this movie is not worth their time…Well I will be there in my theater seat enjoying every part of this movie, from the action, plot and hot bodies…Is it just like the video game story line; probably not but it looks like a damn good movie from what I have heard from Luke Goss and others. So don’t see it and regret that when it comes out on DVD and you have to watch it on a small box with crappy speakers; with your mother yelling in background to take out the trash…

First of all Tara, a Movie Trailer’s purpose and goal is to entice the movie go-er to come and spend their money on their film. By giving us a general plot summary using clips and sound bites, the idea is to give the consumer (i.e. all of us) a great first impression and a reason to spend $9. This trailer… failed. Tekken never had a great story to begin with so to claim “it’s just like the video game story line” doesn’t help your case at all. The Japanese failed to make it into an anime worth watching and I believe Americans will most definately fail as well. The track record for movie adaptations of video games has been nothing short of a disaster. I believe that this movie will test so badly that the best it could hope for is a “straight to DVD” release… if it’s lucky.

Tara, I suggest you save your $10 dollars and just spend the $60 bucks on a much better Tekken experience.
