Zac Efron has been talking about the recent rumors linking him to the Spider-Man reboot.

Talking to Access Hollywood, Efron said…

“I really haven’t gotten that phone call yet! I’m a huge fan of the franchise and a huge fan of Spider-Man. I love all the movies at this point. It would be a dream come true for any guy my age.”

I wouldn’t be surprised if Efron landed the gig, it’s exactly the sort of move I expect Sony to make with the new reboot now that Raimi is out of the picture. Even though Efron is an obvious fit, casting him would be a huge mistake in my opinion. The next Spider-Man should be someone that none of us thought of, kind of like when Raimi cast Tobey Maguire, no one saw that coming.

The Spider-Man reboot is due in 2012.
