Marc Webb To Direct Spider-Man Reboot

marc-webb1(500) Days of Summer director Marc Webb has been hired to direct the Spider-Man reboot and um, well, I’ve got to say I’m a little disappointed.

It looks like Sony has gone for a director who they can control on this one.

Here’s the official statement…

“At its core, Spider-Man is a small, intimate human story about an everyday teenager that takes place in an epic super-human world. The key for us as we sought a new director was to identify filmmakers who could give sharp focus to Peter Parker’s life. We wanted someone who could capture the awe of being in Peter’s shoes so the audience could experience his sense of discovery while giving real heart to the emotion, anxiety, and recklessness of that age and coupling all of that with the adrenaline of Spider-Man’s adventure.”

I’m not looking forward to this movie; I can’t help but feel that it’s going to end up like X-Men 3, with too many know-nothing-know-it-all execs trying to shoe-horn in as many costumed superheroes as they can.

Hey, if Zac Efron gets the role of Spidey, we can have more musical numbers like the one in Spider-Man 3 can’t we?

You just know that there’s a suit in the Sony studio lot thinking the same damn thing…

The Spider-Man reboot should swing its way into cinemas in 2012.
