The CW has renewed Smallville for a tenth season.

The veteran superhero show’s solid performance on Friday nights led to the early pickup.

The series has apparently improved The CW’s Friday night numbers in all important demo categories, including adults 18-34.

Smallville also saw its rating rise for February’s special double episode ‘Absolute Justice’. The two-parter earned 2.6m and 2.94m viewers at 8pm and 9pm respectively.

The CW announced renewals for The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural last month.
