A couple of months back it was revealed that a Footloose remake was in the pipeline and at that time, High School Musical star Zac Efron was thought to be attached to the lead role.

What a difference a couple of months can make. Now it has been announced that not only will the Footloose remake will go ahead without Zac Efron onboard but a new director has signed up to the project.

And that director is?

The one and only Craig Brewer.

Don’t worry, I hadn’t heard of him either but a quick search on IMDB told me that he directed both Black Snake Moan (with Samuel L Jackson and Christina Ricci) and Hustle and Flow.

Does anyone want a Footloose remake?
