Taxi Driver 2 Anyone? De Niro’s Game…
Talking to MTV, Hollywood legend Robert De Niro has admitted that he would love to reprise the role of classic anti-hero Travis Bickle in a sequel to his 1976 movie Taxi Driver.
According to De Niro, there has been at least one attempt at making a sequel but between himself, writer Paul Schrader and director Martin Scorsese they couldn’t come up with a decent storyline…
“I have talked to writer Paul Schrader and Marty. We’ve spoken about what would happen to Travis these years later. We had a thing and we tried to figure it out; Paul was trying to come up with something. And it just didn’t seem to work.”
But that doesn’t mean that De Niro has given up on Taxi Driver 2 just yet…
“You never know – something could come up. I thought it would be interesting to find a way to bring Travis back all these years later – maybe with something ironic about where he’d end up, as he did in the first one. All these years later, maybe we could. It’s still possible.”
Does anyone actually want to see Taxi Driver 2?
