Disney has revealed that British actor Sam Clafin has signed up for Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides.

Clafin, who is a complete newcomer to acting (he’s yet to appear in anything that’s hit our screens) will play Philip; a young missionary who gets drawn into Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow hunt for the Fountain of Youth.

Sam Clafin joins Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane, Stephen Graham, Max Irons and the recently announced Astrid Berges-Frisbey in Rob Marshall’s take on the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides is scheduled to open on May 20th, 2011.
