I don’t know who’s been asking for it but it seems that New Line are determined to give us a sequel to 2008’s Journey to the Centre of the Earth.

Apparently New Line are aiming for a 2011 release date which means that director Eric Brevig, who is busy working on the Yogi Bear movie won’t be able to return to take charge of the production.

Some sites are speculating that star Brendan Fraser may also opt to sit out the sequel as he is thought to be loyal to Brevig and may see his non-participation in Journey to the Centre of the Earth 2 to be reason enough to not return himself.

Josh Hutcherson however, who played Brendan Fraser’s nephew, is expected to return for the sequel.
