EA has confirmed that their upcoming Medal of Honor reboot will be released on the Xbox 360 and PS3 on October 12th in the US while those of us in Europe will have to wait an extra three days (15th).

Previously the Medal of Honor series had been known for setting its games in the battlefields of World War 2 but this time around EA are bringing the series bang up to date ala; Modern Warfare 2 by setting the game in the present day.

EA have been very vocal in their promise that the emphasis for Medal of Honor will be on realism, which they have attempted to realise by bringing in some high-ranking US Military personnel to act as consultants during the initial design process.

One of the locations featured in the upcoming game will be modern-day Afghanistan.

EA hopes that Medal of Honor will reclaim its former position of king of the military based first-person shooters; a title that Infinity Ward’s rival series Call of Duty ripped from them back in 2003.
