Sky.com has posted the first picture of Peter Sarsgaard’s character in the upcoming Green Lantern movie; Hector Hammond.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the character; Hector Hammond is an enemy of the Green Lantern who has a genius IQ with telepathic and telekinetic powers.

Judging from the picture it appears that Warner Bros are staying faithful to the original comic book design for the character.

The Green Lantern is scheduled for release on the 17th of June next year and is directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale).

The plot sees Ryan Reynolds play Hal Jordan, a test pilot who is granted super powers which he gets from a mystical green ring given to him by the Green Lantern Corp.

Green Lantern stars Ryan Reynolds (Hal Jordan), Mark Strong (Sinestro), Peter Sarsgaard (Hector Hammond), Blake Lively (Carol Ferris), Angela Bassett (Dr. Amanda Waller) and Tim Robbins (Senator Hammond).
