It’s not as if this next bit of news should come as a shock to anybody but Disney has announced that their upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides will be getting the 3D treatment. But! Before you roll your eyes and say “so what?” the fact that Disney has announced that the movie will be made in 3D this early means that they can actually film Pirates 4 in 3D and trust me; filming in 3D is a lot different to making a movie first and then adding in 3D in post production.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides sees Jack Sparrow searching for the mythical Fountain of Youth when he runs into the legendary Blackbeard (played by Deadwood’s Ian McShane). Penelope Cruz plays the love interest.

Pirates 4, directed by Rob Marshall and stars Johnny Depp, Ian McShane, Penelope Cruz and Geoffrey Rush. It is scheduled for release on May 20th, 2011.
