MTV has picked up the rights to the long talked-about Teen Wolf TV series, ordering a 12 episode first season run in the process.

Back in 1985, Michael J Fox starred in Teen Wolf, a movie about a college student who played basketball and turned into a werewolf. It was a big hit back in the day and went on to have a sequel (Teen Wolf Too) and a cartoon series. Interesting bit of trivia coming up – Teen Wolf was actually filmed before Back to the Future but wasn’t released until after.

Anyway, Tyler Posey will play the Michael J Fox character and the differences between the movie and the TV series are that instead of the whole werewolf angle being part of the kid’s family history; he’s actually bitten by a wolf.

The show has been written by Criminal Minds writer Jeff Davis.

As well as Tyler Posey; Teen Wolf the TV show also stars Tyler Hoechlin, Crystal Reed and Dylan O’Brien.
