James Franco (Harry Osborn from the Spider-Man movies) is apparently in talks to star in the recently announced Planet of the Apes prequel which is scheduled to begin production on July 5th ready for a June 2011 release date.

But don’t worry all you Franco fans out there, he won’t be covered in an ape suit (actually no one will, the apes are expected to be CGI) as he’s being lined up to play a human scientist who is a major player in the war between us and the apes.

Although Franco’s involvement is far from official I don’t expect there to be any problems between himself and the producers of the Apes prequel because after all, the apes prequel will need a face we’re familiar with to give the movie some cred while Franco, in my opinion, isn’t a big enough star to be walking away from a movie like Apes.

In short; they need him and he needs them.
