Is The Green Lantern Headed For The Cartoon Network?

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Cartoon Network is planning a Green Lantern animated series.

With the live-action Green Lantern movie due to open in cinemas on June 17th of next year it makes perfect sense for the Cartoon Network to have an animated series running alongside it but, if the Hollywood Reporter is to be believed then we won’t actually see the proposed animated series until November of next year.

You’d think that an animated series tie-in for what should be one of the biggest movies of 2011 would have been prepped before now to raise exposure levels amongst kids…

Ah well, at least we’re getting a Green Lantern cartoon series.

The Green Lantern is directed by Martin Campbell and stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Tim Robbins and Angela Bassett and follows the adventures of Hal Jordan; a test pilot who is given mystical powers through a green ring from an intergalactic peace-keeping force.
