Analyst Claims That The PS3 Will Outsell The Xbox 360 By Over 3 Million Units This Year

According to Strategy Analytics, the Playstation 3 will outsell the Xbox 360 by over 3 million units by the end of this year and that’s despite the launch of Project Natal which many think will reinvigorate the 360’s sales.

David Mercer, the top guy for Strategy Analytics said…

“The main movement in Q1 2010 was the growing share for Sony’s PS3, at the expense of Microsoft’s Xbox 360. The PS3 continues to benefit from the price cut last September. This should help the PS3 maintain growth momentum throughout 2010. The introduction of the Natal technology should also help re-energize Microsoft’s Xbox 360 platform in the second half of the year.”

He added that he believes this year; the PS3 will see global sales hitting 14 million while the Xbox 360 will shift 10.5 million units.

What about the Wii I hear you ask?

Well, Mercer thinks the Wii will outdo both and sell 17.5 million consoles.

Natal is going to fail its just another EyeToy.

Alot of 360 sales are resales from the epic failure that was the RROD fiasco.

PS3 was always bound to top 360 its a more advanced console and offers alot more. And isn’t a cheap, plasticky, noisy piece of Microcrap.

Well, to be fair, the 360 has already sold those units. You can only saturate so far before the sales begin to decline from the fact that, oh, everyone has one! Upgrade hardware and add more purchasable stuff all you want, but you will only buy it if you don’t have it.

But how sad is it that it took them this long to finally “top” sales of the X360 with their Blu-Ray play– err, I mean “gaming console.”

    • Funny stuff reading your comment. Classic 360 fanboy. You forget that the only reason the 360 has such a big lead is because it had a 1 year head start. You also forget that the 360 was actually releasing decent games until about a year ago, and now it’s gone to shit. All i see is halo halo halo at the moment from the 360. Saturated? I don’t think so. I know a hell of a lot of people who do not own 360s, who do own PS3s. The fact of the matter is that the PS3 is and has been releasing far better exclusives than the 360 for the last 2 years and people are finally realising that the PS3 is a reliable system with great games. I know you will just reply chatting your fanboy shit just making facts up, its what they all do, but just look it up on metacritic and actually stay in touch with info about both concoles and you will realise that the PS3 is actually a far better gaming system now. Yes xbox live is slightly better but PSN is bloody good for a free online network, and soon with premium PSN will easily surpass Live. The xbox is maxed out now and will just be producing the same shit over and over. Natal is a gimmick that you will get boring incredibly quick. You will see i’m right.

  5. I strongly feel that Natal is going to launch send the 360 further than people foresee, but we’ll see. I’d like to know his thoughts behind these numbers, I’ll have to look into it more.
