Scott Pilgrim vs. the World hits cinemas on August 13 and so far, judging by the trailer it looks, um, well, I don’t know what to make of it.

The plot sees Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) fall in love with Ramona V. Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) but there is a catch. In order to date her he must first have to fight her seven evil exes.

The trailer made reminded me an awful lot of the Wii video game No More Heroes, right down to the retro on-screen graphics.

Scott Pilgrim vs the World is directed by Shaun of the Dead helmer Edgar Wright who, as it happens, is also thought be linked to Marvel’s Ant-Man movie.

The movie is based on a series of comic books by Bryan Lee O’Malley.

As well as the comic book source and the movie there is also an Ubisoft-developed Scott Pilgrim video game in the works for release this year.
