Legendary Pictures Pick Up What Sounds Like An Independence Day Clone

Legendary Pictures has bought an interesting story called Pacific Rim from the writer of this years’ Clash of the Titans remake.

The story is about an attack on Earth in the future by ‘malevolent creatures’ that force all the nations of the world to join up and use advanced technology to stop them.

Um, haven’t I already seen this movie, taking away the futuristic setting, isn’t this the plot for Independence Day?

Anyway, I love sci-fi and I’m sure if it was simply an Independence Day rip-off the folks over at Legendary Pictures wouldn’t have paid somewhere in the six-figure region for a 25 page treatment.

Travis Beacham, who sold Legendary Pictures the treatment, is also working on the 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea remake as well as Disney’s remake of The Black Hole.

There is also the rumour that he is working on a super-secret JJ Abrams movie though it is unclear if it’s on the Super 8 project.
