Shrek 4 Retains Its Position At The Top Of The Box Office Charts

Shrek Forever After continued its strong run at the box office this weekend after fending off Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Sex and the City 2 to hold on to the coveted top spot.

It was a particularly disappointing weekend for Sex and the City 2 which opened with 32 million dollars, down 15 million dollars from the first Sex and the City movie.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time took a 30 million dollar haul to claim third place at the box office, which for the amount of hype the movie has received has to be somewhat disappointing for the studio.

Iron Man 2 came in at number four while Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood completed the top five with a measly 10 million dollars.

This week sees the releases of Marmaduke and Splicers so you can probably expect to see a bit of a shake up at the box office. Don’t be surprised to see Robin Hood go bye bye.
