Final Fantasy VII Writer Claims That The iPad Will Kill Nintendo
According to Masato Kato; the writer of such games as Final Fantasy VII, Xenogears and Chrono Trigger, the recently released Apple iPad will destroy Nintendo’s current dominance of the video game industry.
Via his Twitter account, Kato tweeted…
“With the iPad going on sale, the epoch of Nintendo is finished. But with the DS and the Wii, it’s been digging its own grave.”
Quite what Kato meant by saying that Nintendo was digging its own grave with the DS and Wii is anyone’s guess as he didn’t go on to elaborate.
However, his claim that the release of the iPad could signal the end of Nintendo’s dominance could have some substance to it.
Nintendo targets the casual audience and with the saturation of the iPhone/iPod and iPad being all encompassing more and more casual gamers can get their gaming fix without having to sit in front of their TV’s or buy another handheld device which charges up to 30 quid a game.
That part, at least to me; makes sense but how it will be Nintendo’s fault I haven’t got a clue.
Anyone got any ideas about what he was getting at?
