Shigeru Miyamoto Doesn’t Want Mario To Appear In Too Many Games

Video Game legend and father of the Super Mario games franchise Shigeru Miyamoto has been talking ahead of the UK release of Super Mario Galaxy 2 about how Nintendo should be careful to not over-use their iconic plumber.

“Mario is a very important character in the Nintendo world and so we want him to appear in our titles. Indeed there are a lot of games to which he is well-suited. However if he appears in too many games then they will lose their uniqueness, and so with that we are very strict when choosing which games to have Mario feature in.”

I have always found it odd that while the Super Mario adventures like Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and the Galaxy franchise always raise the bar when it comes to platforming, his appearances in sports games and party games always end up being somewhat average.
