Inglorious Basterds star and star of the upcoming Jonah Hex, Michael Fassbender is being lined up to appear in either the Spider-Man reboot or X-Men: First Class.

If Fassbender chooses X-Men: First Class then the role he will take will be that of Magneto, opposite James McAvoy’s Professor Xavier.

After watching Inglorious Basterds, Fassbender as a young Magneto would be genius casting and now that he’s been linked I will struggle to see anyone else as a young Magneto.

But if Fassbender opts for the Spider-Man reboot then it is not known who he will play. The obvious choice would be the Green Goblin, if that is indeed the villain Marc Webb and co will go for but I could just as easily see him as Doctor Curt Connors. I mean, they never used the Lizard in Sam Raimi’s movies so it would make sense if the new Spider-Man launched with him.

Anyway, there’s no word on which production he favours and as you’ve got to assume that he can’t do both then I’d wager we’ll know within the next couple of weeks whether or not he’ll sign up for Spider-Man or X-Men.
