Crystal Bowersox (known to fans as “MamaSox”) has become the latest idol cast-off to sign with 19 Recordings/Jive Records. “I’m really grateful to be given this opportunity to make an album and let people hear my music. And, I’m looking forward to working with all of the folks at 10/Jive.” She said in a statement that was included in the company’s press release.

“In addition to being a gifted singer, Crystal has demonstrated that she has a dynamic stage presence and fans really connect with her sincerity and straight-forwardness. Crystal is in a league of her own and we look forward to working with her.” said Chairman and CEO of the RCA/Jive Label Group, Barry Weiss.

Bowersox was runner up on Season 9 of American Idol. Although she was a favorite for the duration of the season, she lost to fellow Chicago contestant, Lee DeWyze.

Simon Fuller, American Idol creator said of Bowersox, “Crystal is one of the most naturally gifted and talented singer songwriters to have ever come out of Idol. The breadth of her talent is inspiring.”
