We do plenty of grumbling when we watch prices rise on our everyday purchases. But, have you noticed that the prices of certain items have actually been falling?

Here are some of the things that we regularly purchase that have seen reductions in price:

1. Housing – since the housing bubble has burst, we have seen prices fall and become more affordable once again.
2. Television sets – the prices of television sets has actually fallen by 84%. So have the prices for audio systems, video records and movies.
3. Kitchen Appliances – big appliances such as dish washers and refrigerators have not seen price increases since 2000, which is good news for consumers. Small appliances such as blenders, toasters and coffee makers have dropped by about 23%.
4. Bedroom Accessories – Since 2000, prices of bedroom furniture has fallen by about 4%. Linens and window treatments have fallen even further.
5. Home office equipment –Computer prices have dropped by about 84% since 2000 making it possible to have more than one in a household. Internet and long distance prices have dropped to some extent as well.
