History is being made at Wimbledon this week. Not only did 5-time champion Roger Federer come dangerously close to elimination in the first round, but we are currently in the midst of the longest tennis match of all time.

American John Isner and France’s Nicolas Mahut have been playing for three days. The match was suspended on Tuesday night after 4 sets due to darkness. When the match resumed on Wednesday, it was again called due to darkness in the 5th set. The score stands at 59-all.

“Nothing like this will ever happen again, ever,” Isner told Agence France-Presse.

Mahut told reporters, “We’re just fighting like we never did before. Someone has to win so we will come back tomorrow and see who’s going to win this match. It’s just amazing, the crowd is just fantastic and everyone wants to see the end, but they have to come back tomorrow.”

The two are set to resume play on Thursday.
