Clay Aiken as a Replacement for Simon Cowell?
“I would not put myself out there to be as caustic as [Cowell] is, but if they want to call me, bring it on,” Aiken said in an interview with Billboard.com. “We can talk.”
According to the interview, Aiken would be happy to get a shot at filling the spot vacated by Simon Cowell on American Idol in the fall. In fact, so would a long list of other celebrities.
“I’ve always thought it would be a great addition to the panel to have someone who’s a former contestant and knows what it’s like to be up on that stage and be critiqued.” Aiken added.
Aiken, the season 2 American Idol runner up is promoting his newly released album, “Tried & True.” He is also planning a tour this summer with the champ of the second season, Ruben Studdard. He may be a bit pressed for time when it comes down to it. We’ll have to see who is chosen for that coveted spot. But, the nice-guy, Aiken, might be better off concentrating on what’s coming up on the road.
