BP Orders 32 More Costner Cleanup Devices
“Doug Suttles was the first guy to step up in the oil industry” Costner said at a press conference, “and I’m really happy to say when he ordered 32 machines, it’s a signal to the world, to the industry, where we need to be.”
The newly-ordered machines, according to Suttles, will be utilized in the building of four new deep-water systems: two that will be on barges and two that will be on 280-foot supply boats.
“We tested it in some of the toughest environments we could find, and actually what it’s done — it’s quite robust,” Suttles commented. “This is real technology with real science behind it, and it’s passed all of those tests.”
Suttles added that the device has been shown to efficiently process 128,000 barrels of water per day. “This can make a real difference to our spill response efforts.” He said.
Costner has spent the last 15 years and has invested around $20 million in the development of these centrifuges. Ocean Therapy Solutions is the company he helped found in order to advance the research work done by his brother in spill cleanup technology.
