Don’t Look Now But Scream 4 Is In Trouble – Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen Scribe Replaces Kevin Williamson As Writer!

For those of you out there who received the news of a fourth Scream movie with excitement and anticipation (there’s got to be some of you out there) get set for your bubble to burst.

Ready?

Scream 3 and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen writer Ehren Kruger has replaced Scream creator Kevin Williamson (he wrote both Scream 1 and 2) as writer for Scream 4.

Yep, you read that right, Dimension are hiring the writer of Scream 3, which arguably killed the Scream franchise in the first place to bring it back to life. (That’s kind of like Warner Bros hiring Joel Schumacher to make Batman Begins).

Here’s what an insider on Scream 4 had to say to Shock Till You Drop about Kruger’s appointment…

“Yes, Ehren Kruger has been brought in to do a bit of polishing. But no, Williamson isn’t “out” by any means. As you know, he’s also working hard on the second season of Vampire Diaries for the CW. While he’s away fulfilling his commitments on that show, the production called upon Kruger to assist on the script. Some chatter about Lauren Graham’s departure has made it sound like she wasn’t thrilled with the sequel, however, it was another case of production scheduling and she’s off to work on Parenthood.”

Seriously guys, Scream 4 sounds like a box office bomb waiting to go off especially after director Wes Craven recently tweeted…

“I have not been given control of the script.”

Which to me suggests all is not well with the production on a lot of levels.

Scream 4 is scheduled to hit cinemas on April 15th, 2011.
