As a fan of both Hostel 1 and 2 I couldn’t be more excited about the news that Hostel 3 has been given the greenlight though my excitement has been dampened somewhat by the fact that Eli Roth won’t be returning to direct.

There had been some rumours floating about that Roth would hang around to produce Hostel 3 but they were quashed by Roth himself when he tweeted…

“Rumor Control: not producing Hostel 3, but it’s in the VERY capable hands of director Scott Spiegel & producers Mike Fleiss & Chris Briggs. There was a huge demand to continue the series and they are the right team to do it. They’re very smart, creative, and really get it.”

Personally I have to wonder whether or not Hostel 3 will suffer without Roth. It’s the concept in that there are people in this world who would happily hand over their hard-earned to torture and kill that scares the crap out of me, surely any director worthy of his pay check could mould something watchable out of that?

A quick FYI – Hostel 3’s director Scott Spiegel directed From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money so there is a real chance that the third Hostel movie will bomb.
