Capcom Exec Thinks The Next Generation Of Video Game Consoles Will Begin In 2012

David Reeves, the former head of Sony and current Capcom executive claims that the next generation of video game consoles might not be as far away as we previously thought.

According to Reeves, the first of the next generation of consoles could be with us within the next two to three years.

And not only does Reeves believe that we will get new consoles within the next two to three years but he also holds the belief that when they arrive, they will offer us brand new ways to control games.

Talking to GamesIndustry.biz Reeves said…

“I honestly think in two or three years’ time we’re going to see much more of a breakthrough in terms of the way we control games. Much more than Kinect or Move are offering. A lot of people are working on that type of thing in Scandinavia, Japan and the US. How to control games in a much more accurate way. I know from working on Move, which started four or five years ago, when we had a big box in a room to get the whole thing working. It’s come down to something much smaller now.”

I can see a new Wii or Xbox coming in 2012 but I very much doubt that Sony will follow suit.
