Harry Potter 1 and 2 Director To Take Charge Of Superman Reboot?

Harry Potter and Percy Jackson director Chris Columbus is heavily rumoured to be in the running to direct the Superman reboot.

The Superman reboot is being overseen by Dark Knight director Chris Nolan who doesn’t want to direct the movie himself.

The script is being handled by Jonathan Nolan and David Goyer; who himself is interested in directing the movie but is thought to be out of the running due to Warner Bros presumed low opinion of his directorial abilities. (Remember Blade Trinity?)

Chris Columbus has something of a chequered past in Hollywood and although he “started” the Harry Potter movie franchise with The Philosophers Stone and The Chamber of Secrets, both those movies are generally regarded to be the weakest of all the Harry Potter movies to date.

Personally I can’t see Warner Bros giving the Superman gig to Chris Columbus, sure he’s studio friendly but the fan backlash I expect to see if he gets the job will have a massively negative effect on the reboot, something which the studio will be keen to avoid.
