According to Variety, Kevin Bacon has in fact signed on to star as the main villain in the upcoming X-Men prequel; X-Men: First Class.

Although Fox is yet to officially reveal which villain Bacon will portray, the Internet is buzzing with Mister Sinister claims.

In further X-Men: First Class news, Heat Vision are reporting that Jennifer Lawrence has signed up to play a young Mystique.

Bacon and Lawrence join a pretty interesting cast which includes James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Nicolas Hoult as Beast, Caleb Landry Jones as Banshee and Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut. (Only joking about Vinnie; he’s not involved…)

X-Men: First Class is being directed by Matthew Vaughn and is expected to go into production next month ahead of its June 2011 release date.

There’s still a couple of parts left to cast most notable of which are Cyclops and Wolverine. Although Wolverine may not feature in First Class at all. (He shouldn’t. It wouldn’t make a lick of sense). As for Cyclops, Aaron Johnson is being heavily linked with the role.
