The first picture of Ryan Reynolds in his full Green Lantern costume has graced the cover of Entertainment Weekly (See below) and I’ve got to admit it looks pretty damn sweet.

It seems that the costume designers have really nailed it. I’ll be honest, I was really doubting whether or not a live-action Green Lantern would work on camera. Deep down I figured that no matter what they tried to do with the costume there would be no way of stopping it from looking cheesy.

It seems I was wrong.

Of course, seeing a still image is no guarantee that Reynolds won’t look like a dick in a green suit when the movie is released but it’s definitely eased my fears somewhat.

Green Lantern is scheduled for release on June 17th, 2011 and stars Ryan Reynolds, Tim Robbins, Blake Lively, Angela Bassett and Mark Strong. Martin Campbell directs.
