Despite the fact that the studio holding the rights to the Bond franchise (MGM) is in serious financial trouble, the producers for the James Bond movies remain optimistic that they will soon be in a position to go into production on “Bond 23”.

Producer Michael G. Wilson said…

“Both Barbara (Broccoli, his Bond co-producer) and I are convinced that we’ll be bringing you another Bond film soon.”

American Beauty director Sam Mendes has expressed an interest in directing Bond 23 while Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace star Daniel Craig is still attached to the project so it seems only a matter of time before we get an announcement from MGM.

But! Should they sell the franchise to another studio (which actually would make sense for the struggling studio) then things could get confusing and the hunt for a new director and, more importantly; a new Bond could begin.
