According to Max Brooks, Brad Pitt has signed on to star in the movie adaptation of World War Z.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Max Brook’s (Yes, he’s Mel’s boy) World War Z it is set in the not too distant future after the world has been ravaged by a Zombie outbreak. The book is made up of witnesses accounts of the outbreak.

We’ve known for a while that Pitt’s production company had secured the rights for World War Z so it makes sense that Pitt will star in the movie.

If you haven’t read World War Z and for some reason don’t like reading (um, hello?) you should check out the audio book which is absolutely amazing.

Apparently, if World War Z is a hit then Brooks’ other Zombie book; The Zombie Survival Guide will also be made into a movie . (Not sure how they will adapt that book…)

A quick look on IMDB said that the movie is due in 2012.
