Cloverfield 2 Put On The Back Burner
For a while now there’s been talk of a Cloverfield 2.
With the first movie being a big box office hit you would have thought that Cloverfield 2 would have been given the green light ages ago.
So, what’s wrong?
Well, according to Cloverfield director Matt Reeves, the busy schedules of producer JJ Abrams and himself have forced the sequel on to the backburner.
Abrams is busy with Super 8 while Reeves has found his time consumed by his upcoming Vampire flick; Let Me In.
Speaking at a recent press-promo for Let Me In; Reeves revealed that…
“Cloverfield 2 is on hold for now. J.J is very involved with Super 8 and I’ve been doing Let Me In, so we have shelved it until we can get the team from the first back together.”
Personally I believe Cloverfield works best as a single movie. I mean, what’s the point in a sequel, where could a sequel take the story?
There was talk of building the sequel around another bunch of New Yorkers with a handycam but for me that would be pointless, while on the other hand making a movie from the Military’s perspective would be too close to Matthew Broderick 1998 Godzilla.
So, where do they go?
Prediction time; I don’t think we’ll ever get to see Cloverfield 2.
