Alberto Contador, who just claimed the 2010 Tour de France title, stated on Wednesday that he will carefully evaluate his options before making a decision about which team he will ride for next season. He explained that he did reject an ultimatum given to him by Astana, which asked him to answer by Tuesday on its offer to renew his existing contract.

Contador says he will calmly look into all his opportunities and at this point, he has not dismissed any of them. The champion rider did not share any more details about his current offers.

Astana had Contador for three years under contract and he won two Tour titles (out of three), a Spanish Vuelta title and a Giro d’Italia while he was riding for the team which has its headquarters in Kazakhstan.

When Contador joined Astana together with team coach Johan Bruyneel back in 2008, the Tour de France organizers denied the team the opportunity to join the race because of alleged doping violations.
