U.S. Soccer star Landon Donovan is exploring his options
During the 2010 Soccer World Cup, the U.S. team exceeded the expectations of many experts. Naturally, the players got more attention from the media and also from other clubs all over the world.
One who might be able to benefit from this situation is Landon Donovan, the forward of the Los Angeles Galaxy. Donovan confirmed that he might consider leaving Major League Soccer to pursue other opportunities outside the U.S., because of the intensified interest coming from Europe after the World Cup. In an interview with Reuters after a match he played for the MLS All Stars against Britain’s top club Manchester Unites, Donovan stated that he had been contacted by a number of teams and he will now take some time to think about the situation and assess all his options.
Despite it all, Don Garber, MLS commissioner, still hopes that the 28-year-old Donovan will stay in the States, acknowledging the importance of him being part of American soccer culture.
