Dexter’s on-screen Dad; James Remar has revealed to IGN that he will be returning for season five to dispense more ghostly advice for his psychotic son.

And just in case you were wondering whether or not Dexter would be visiting upon by the ghost of someone else this season (I’ll refrain from saying which ghost just in case you haven’t finished season 4 yet) well, he won’t. His dad is the only ghost (I know he’s not a ghost but you know what I mean. ghost – psychotic episode; either way…) Dexter will see.

I’ll leave it to Mr. Remar to explain in his own words…

“Let’s just say that Harry never abandons Dexter. And let’s say that he shows up at just the right moment. It’s a nice moment and Dexter’s struggling. Harry’s an actual memory. You have a father and I’m sure your father expressed certain lessons to you growing up. And you can’t replace that with another face. You can’t stick another face on your dad. So Harry and Dexter have a very close relationship. To create some other character would just make him delusional.”

Dexter returns on September 26.
