According to the website SuperHeroHype, Marvel Studios are planning to start production on The Avengers in February ahead of its May 4th, 2012 release.

The Avengers will be directed by Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon and will star Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark aka Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as The Mighty Thor, Samuel L Jackson will once again don the eye-patch and play Nick Fury, Jeremy Renner will play Hawkeye, Mark Ruffalo will make his debut as The Hulk, Scarlett Johansson will return as The Black Widow while Clark Gregg will play Agent Phil Coulson.

In other Marvel movie news, the Spider-Man reboot which is to be directed by Marc Webb is set to begin its production in December in Los Angeles.
