Changes in store for ‘Millionaire’
Fans of the popular quiz show ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ will be seeing big changes when the syndicated show begins its ninth season next month.
A brand new set will be unveiled. There will no longer be a ‘hot seat.’ Instead, Meredith Viera, host of the U.S. version of the show, will stand with contestants as they work through the questions. According to reports, quiz questions and winnings will appear on an 18-foot wide projection screen.
Also changing on the show will be modifications to the format. The Double Dip, where contestants are allowed to choose two of four answers, will be eliminated. Also getting the axe will be Ask the Expert, where a former contestant or celebrity appears via Skype to assist. There will no longer be 15 questions to the game. They are being cut by one and contestants will only have to answer 14 questions correctly to walk off with $1 million.
