Betty White wins Emmy
It is no surprise that in the midst of the Betty White craze, the 88-year-old funny lady and beloved actress won an Emmy for her guest performance last spring on “Saturday Night Live.”
At the Creative Arts Ceremony, a precursor to the main Emmy show on August 29, White was honored as best guest actress in a comedy series. It is her fifth prime-time Emmy honor. The other Emmys she took home were awarded for her work on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Golden Girls.”
White was not in attendance at the awards ceremony. Her award was presented by “Glee’s” Jane Lynch, “Lost’s” Elizabeth Mitchell and “Mad Men’s” Christina Hendricks.
Hosting the ceremony was Neil Patrick Harris, who himself walked away a winner. He was honored for a guest appearance on “Glee” as best guest actor in a comedy series. In the drama category, best guest actor went to John Lithgow for his performance on “Dexter” and Ann-Margret for her appearance on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”
