Bulletproof Monk Writers To Script Karate Kid 2

The sequel to this year’s smash hit remake The Karate Kid, which starred Will Smith’s son Jaden Smith has been given the greenlight.

To date The Karate Kid has grossed nearly 300 million dollars worldwide so it makes sense then that we would be getting a sequel.

At this moment in time it is unclear if director Harald Zwart will return to helm the sequel or indeed if Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan will return (though you have got to assume that both actors signed up for multiple sequels) What we do know is who will write the script, or at least who will be writing the first draft. That honour actually falls to two writers (as seems to be the norm in Hollywood these days).

Cyrus Voris and Ethan Reiff have been handed scripting duties and just because I am in a good mood I will give you a little background on the guys. As a partnership they are responsible for, or worked on; Kung Fu Panda, Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight, Bulletproof Monk, the TV show Sleeper Cell and an early draft of Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood.

The Karate Kid 2 is tentatively scheduled for a 2013 release which to me doesn’t sound right. Kids Jaden Smith’s age can grow a lot in three years (remember Walt from Lost?) so you would think that the studio would keep any unwanted growth spurts in mind and get into production on The Karate Kid part 2 asap.
