Caroline Wozniacki in 2010 Pilot Pen Final
Caroline Wozniacki reached her third consecutive final at the 2010 Pilot Pen tennis tournament.
The 2010 U.S. Open top seed had to fight hard to prevail over her Russian opponent Elena Dementieva, eventually beating her in three sets with 1-6, 6-3 and 7-5. Wozniacki now holds a 12-0 record at the Pilot Pen.
Dementieva on the other hand, reached the semis a total of four times but never made it into the finals. Yesterday though, she seemed to finally break her streak by taking an early lead in the first set, breaking Wozniacki twice. But the Danish tennis star was ready to turn tables in the second set.
In the deciding third, Dementieva again found a better start and was actually serving for the match at 5-4. Wozniacki remained cool and focused, took that game and now Dementieva faced three match points, but managed to save all of them.
The decision was brought in tiebreak where Wozniacki played with more confidence to close out the match.
