As far as acting goes, Timothy Dalton has had a lean couple of years of late. In fact in the last three years the former James Bond has only appeared in two movies; (physically he appeared in only one of them) Hot Fuzz and Toy Story 3.

He popped up as a bad guy in Doctor Who for two episodes last year and showed his face in the failed TV show Unknown Sender for an episode back in 2008.

I don’t know why his workload has been so light these past few years but as the dude is 66 I’ll give him a break.

Well, it seems that Dalton is ready to go back to work as he has signed up for what could possibly be a recurring role on the hit TV show Chuck. Dalton will play a mysterious love interest of Chuck’s mom but before you get any ideas, Dalton’s character will not turn out to be Chuck’s dad, well, if producer Josh Schwartz is to be believed he won’t be…

“Consider that theory squashed. We’ll only say that they’ve [Dalton’s character and Chuck’s mom] known each other for a long time.”

Schwartz went on to reveal that he has been trying to get Dalton onboard his TV show since season one…

“We’ve wanted to have him on the show since season one. When we came up with this part, we thought he’d be perfect. So we sent him [some episodes], he dug it, and then we started talking.”
